Gen Zers plan to spend on summer fun—how can banks help them do so responsibly?

The findings: Young US consumers will walk a financial tightrope this summer, per a May 2025 Intuit Credit Karma study, as they balance a desire for fun with rising costs and financial uncertainty.

The details: For many Gen Zers, summer 2025 is about seizing the moment. Forty-nine percent believe that planning for the future feels pointless, preferring to spend their money freely now.

This fuels a desire for immediate gratification: 37% of Gen Zers expect to spend more on nonessentials like dining, travel, and entertainment this summer than in previous years. And 32% plan to prioritize their finances after summer is over.
