Gen Z doubts tech companies' commitment to mental health and safety

The news: Teens are reporting low confidence in social media companies and confusion with generative AI (genAI) content online.

  • Thirty-five percent of consumers ages 13 to 18 have been misled by fake content, per Common Sense Media’s Teens, Trust, and Technology in the Age of AI report.
  • And 64% said major tech companies like Google, Apple, Meta, TikTok, and Microsoft don’t care about their mental health or well-being.
