Furniture leads retail categories in customer lifetime value in Q1

The news: Furniture emerged as the ecommerce segment with the highest customer value among retail categories tracked in Q1 2026, per Industry KPI data from AdScale.

Customer lifetime value (CLV) represents the total revenues gained from a customer during their relationship with a business.

Furniture CLV rose 2.2% YoY to $769.51 in Q1, well above the overall tracked category average of $130.68. While the lead in CLV dollar value isn’t surprising given the category's bigger-ticket nature, furniture’s growth outperformed several adjacent discretionary categories.

Among AdScale clients, furniture’s CLV growth exceeded the overall tracked category average of 1.7% and outperformed home and garden, down 16%; electronics, down 11.6%; sporting goods, down 4.9%; and pet supplies, down 4.2%. Faster-growing categories included toys and games, up 11.4%; baby and toddler, up 9%; and fashion accessories, up 5.5%.
