Social Preferences: Data from GlobalWebIndex that looked at the main reasons why Gen Zers use social media found that more (45%) are likely to use it to find funny or entertaining content than to stay in touch with what their friends are doing (41%). And for some, it's a path to purchase. Nearly three in 10 respondents said they use social media to research or find products to buy.
Who's Second? Surprise, surprise: Netflix is the top streaming service among US streaming service subscribers, according to research from CivicScience. The study found that many subscribers use just one service, and nearly a quarter (23%) of the general population subscribes to Netflix. Amazon was a distant second, with a "5% subscription rate," followed by Hulu and HBO Now.
Digital News: An American Press Institute study that looked at digital news subscriptions at 100 US newspapers showed that discounted trial subscriptions resulted in higher conversion rates than free trials. For example, free trial subscriptions resulted in a conversion rate of less than a quarter, while discounted trails resulted in a conversion rate of at least 26%.
