Consumers with health insurance can’t predict their prescription drug costs

The trend: Lack of transparency into prescription drug costs and poor comprehension of health insurance coverage prevent many Americans from affording their medications, according to a new survey from pharmaceutical industry trade group PhRMA and Ipsos.

  • 2,592 US adults were surveyed in July—92% of whom have insurance coverage and 65% who took a prescription medication in the past year.
