The news: After canceling its EV project and dealing with poor Vision Pro sales, Apple is reportedly shifting its attention to its smart home portfolio as another potential area to showcase Apple Intelligence, per Bloomberg.

The smart home push will likely take place in 2025 and rely on an AI-enabled Siri voice assistant to serve as the lynchpin for new products and services. It’s a low-stakes expansion for Apple, considering smart homes have had voice control features for years.

AI making smart homes smarter: To provide a cohesive ecosystem, Apple is reportedly building a homeOS operating system based on its tvOS video-on-demand (VOD) software.
