Methodology

Data is from the Bread Financial report titled "The 2026 State of the American Shopper." 22,586 US consumers ages 18+ (n=2,000 per month) were surveyed online during 2025. Quotas were put on age and gender to reflect the general population. This included 4,926 Gen Z recipients, 6,322 Millennials, 5,607 from Gen X and 5,653 Baby Boomers.
