Note

In-app purchases refer to the buying of virtual goods and subscriptions from inside an app. The purchases are processed directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. An example of virtual goods in a game includes purchasing coins to unlock new levels. Subscriptions include ... auto-renewable or one-time subscription purchases. In-app purchases exclude spending in commerce apps such as Amazon, rideshare apps like Uber, or other apps where the purchase is not processed directly through Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Methodology

Estimates are based on the analysis of survey and traffic data from research firms and regulatory agencies; historical trends; and country-specific demographic and socioeconomic factors.
