Retail clinics are defined as outpatient facilities usually located in retail businesses, such as grocery stores and pharmacies, that offer a variety of patient services and procedures, and whose capabilities are usually slightly less advanced than urgent care clinics. Retail clinics accept ... unscheduled, walk-in patients. Their services usually include treatment for minor ailments such as sore throat, ear infections, and colds; preventative services such as flu shots and vaccinations; and screening for various conditions. Includes services for walk-in flu shots at pharmacies. Excludes people who only visit on behalf of someone else.
Methodology
Estimates are based on various elements related to the outpatient services sector of the healthcare industry, including analysis of survey data from research firms and regulatory agencies; consumer healthcare indicators; historical trends; company-specific data; and demographic and socioeconomic factors.
