This chart shows the amount of groceries purchased digitally in the US according to digital grocery buyers. The retailers examined are Walmart and Amazon as well as total retailers. The majority of users said they purchase a small amount this way.

Methodology

Data is from the April 2018 Coresight Research (formerly Fung Global Retail & Technology) "US Online Grocery Consumer Survey: Amazon Is the Most-Shopped Retailer, but Not Yet a Full-Order Grocery Destination." 1,885 US internet users ages 18+ were surveyed online during March 15-24, 2018. Groceries ... were defined as food and nonfood products that people regularly buy from a grocery store, including food, drink, pet food, household cleaning products (e.g., laundry detergent) and personal care products (e.g., shampoo, diapers).
