Data is from a June 2015 Localytics analysis of 28,000 apps using Localytics software, across more than 1.5 billion devices worldwide. This study looked at Android and iOS apps that have integrated in-app messaging. For engagement, Localytics observed the average number of app launches for apps using in-app messaging compared to those that were not. The timeframe for the engagement study was May 1-31, 2015. Retention was observed from February 2015 through the end of May 2015. The study also looked at clickthrough rates of campaigns that were triggered by an in-app event vs. presented at the beginning of a session. Localytics is a marketing and analytics platform for mobile and web apps.
