The news: UK consumers can now check their credit scores via the Experian app in ChatGPT, per a press release. 

Users will have to download the Experian plugin and tag @Experian during a chat session to initiate a secure sign-in flow.

In addition to checking their credit scores, users can also get breakdowns of what raised or lowered their scores and track their score’s movement.

Why this matters: ChatGPT is becoming a channel where young consumers turn for quick research. 

As more people start their research and discovery with a chatbot, financial and payment providers must find ways to integrate into AI interfaces or risk losing AI brand visibility. 

Implications for payment providers: Surfacing credit score information via ChatGPT may help financial providers snag younger consumers who are deeply engaged with their creditworthiness. 

• Forty-five percent of Gen Zers and 42% of millennials monitor their credit scores monthly—more than any other generation, per FICO.
• Gen Zers and millennials are also most likely to be active with chatbots, as they comprise 61.4% of all generative AI users, per our forecast. 
• And 30.7% of Gen Zers and 29.9% of millennials say they have turned to an AI tool for personal advice or guidance about their personal finance, per an EMARKETER survey. 

Payment players trying to interact with key acquisition demographics have an opportunity to grab these young adults’ attention by making credit scoring surfaceable through their brands on AI platforms.
