Salesforce and Anthropic bring CRM data and actions into Claude

The news: Salesforce and Anthropic expanded their partnership to develop Claudeforce.

  • The Claudeforce plugin places customer relationship management (CRM) directly inside Anthropic’s Claude chatbot, letting AI agents act on existing data, workflows, and governance practices.
  • It has 37 pre-built sales skills that help Claude take actions like building custom apps or scheduling a daily briefing. More skills are on the way, as well as further integrations across Claude, Salesforce, and Slack.

Claudeforce is available now as a pilot for select customers and will launch in an open beta next month.

Why it matters: Data siloes and fragmentation can constrain useful enterprise AI applications because the AI can’t see all the information it needs, such as when customer data is locked inside separate sales tools, billing systems, support software, or communication channels.

  • 45% of US sales and marketing professionals say AI in their CRM saves time, and 32% say it surfaces overlooked opportunities, per Pipedrive.
  • 63% say disconnected tools cause their teams to miss important actions or opportunities at least weekly.

By putting its data inside an interface where employees are already working and making decisions, Salesforce is trying to close that gap.

  • Claude already powers Slackbot for Salesforce’s own teams, an integration that has driven 8.1 million hours of annualized productivity gains, per Salesforce.
  • It’s also the default model across Slack AI, Slackbot, and Agentforce Coworker, emphasizing Salesforce’s effort to make Slack an agentic command center.

Salesforce could also be hedging against AI disintermediation—if Claude can pull data and update records without a worker needing to open Salesforce, the value of its user interface declines. Claudeforce could help Salesforce protect that value and stay involved.

Implications for marketers: Claudeforce’s launch suggests that enterprise providers believe the CRM interface could become optional. In the future, marketers could spend more time interacting with customer information through AI assistants than through dashboards, making data quality and permissions crucial.

Before adopting tools like Claudeforce, teams should identify workflows where fragmented data is creating friction and test whether AI integrations can push insights into action without giving up oversight.
