The news: Several retailers are making a play for the $36.16 billion we expect consumers to spend on college back-to-school shopping this year.
- All 97 co-branded Bed Bath & Beyond + The Container Store locations now feature a dedicated College Living section with bedding, storage, and everyday essentials.
- Hollister is teaming up with Target on its first collection in the home and décor category, which will feature nearly 60 items across men's and women's apparel and bedding. Items will be available online, in most Target stores, and in select Hollister locations beginning June 28.
- Williams-Sonoma in April relaunched Dormify, the online home décor brand it acquired last year, as its 10th brand focused on college shoppers.
- Amazon is also positioning its Prime Day sale as a back-to-school moment, with discounts on college tech and accessories.
