Best Buy, Kohl’s, and Dollar General beat Prime Day to the punch

The trend: A growing parade of retailers are front-loading July promotions to capture sales before the start of Amazon’s Prime Day event, which will run from July 8 at 12:01am PDT through July 11.

The details:

  • Best Buy launched its seven-day Fourth of July sale on June 30. The event features deals exclusively available to members of the retailer’s My Best Buy Plus or My Best Buy Total programs, as well as limited product releases and additional savings that are only available in the retailer’s app.
  • REI’s Fourth of July deals event, which runs through July 7, also features member-exclusive discounts, such as 20% off one full-price Yeti item, as well as rotating limited-time offers and up to 50% off clearance.
  • Kohl’s four-day Summer Cyber Deals event starts one day before Amazon’s Prime Day and will feature free shipping on all online purchases, markdowns on hundreds of items across categories, and $10 in Kohl’s Cash for every $50 spent on qualifying merchandise.
  • Dollar General is offering up to 50% off on one item each day as part of its “7 Days of Savings” summer sale event that runs from July 6 to July 12.
