The news: OnePay added a “My Garage” tab to its digital wallet, per a press release.
Within the tab, OnePay can view their vehicle value, loan equity, payoff timeline, car insurance options, and gas rewards.
My Garage pulls loan data from users’ credit reports after they enroll in OnePay’s Credit Score service.
How we got here: OnePay has been steadily filling out its lineup to make its app a financial one-stop shop.
Why this matters: Digital wallets are pushing into categories beyond traditional payments like ID management, merchant order tracking, travel, ticketing & passes, bill splitting, and now automotive services.
OnePay’s auto dashboard could also be a precursor for building out its loan services into auto loans—which could make OnePay even stickier for users. And with gas rewards, it could promote Walmart-owned gas stations and auto care centers for a greater flywheel effect.
Implication for fintechs: Big product rollouts can help customers who already have ingrained habits with other wallets make the switch—particularly when paired with robust rewards like over 40¢ per gallon in cash back.
As digital wallets become the interface for both commerce and finance, wallets will have to ensure seamless integration between payment, financing, and shopping features within their apps to ensure there are no breakdowns in the user experience.
