The news: US News & World Report launched ratings of telehealth platforms offering GLP-1 weight loss drugs. The report evaluated 20 online platforms that prescribe FDA-approved, brand-name GLP-1 medications to help consumers navigate their options. Companies were assessed using thousands of data points on their platforms and feedback from 1,200+ consumers who access GLP-1s via telehealth.
Digging into the ratings: Platforms were scored on a 5-point scale across six key pillars: clinical support (25%), screening rigor (20%), transparency (17%), insurance assistance (15%), supplemental care (13%), and overall customer satisfaction (10%).
Why it matters: More consumers will expect GLP-1 care to go beyond prescription access.
While convenient online prescribing remains important, longer-term users are likely to seek more comprehensive clinical and lifestyle support, including ongoing provider care, side-effect management, and nutrition guidance as their appetite and dietary needs evolve. They’ll also look for help navigating costs and financial resources, as price is a top driver of treatment discontinuation.
Many GLP-1 patients currently lack ongoing health guidance and assistance planning for high medication costs or anticipating changes in insurance coverage. Diet-related advice typically emphasizes calorie reduction over comprehensive nutritional support, according to a study published earlier this year. A May PwC survey found that current and former users are piecing together routines from a fragmented mix of information, tools, and services, often without consistent professional advice to manage treatment and lifestyle changes. Meanwhile, nearly half of GLP-1 patients said their medication cost was more expensive than expected, per a February 2026 Navitus Health Solutions survey.
Implications for GLP-1 brands and marketers: The rapid expansion of telehealth has made obtaining a weight loss drug prescription easier than ever. Over one-quarter (26%) of GLP-1 patients, including 55% of Gen Zers, have used a telehealth service to get their prescription, per January 2026 EMARKETER survey data.
At the same time, GLP-1 telehealth brands are now entering a new phase of scrutiny, where access alone is no longer enough to differentiate. As the market matures, third-party benchmarks can shift competition toward quality of care and the broader patient experience—elevating expectations for what consumers expect from digital weight loss providers. Similar to US News & World Report’s university and hospital ratings, GLP-1 telehealth rankings could provide a standardized way to compare providers on care quality, reputation, patient experience, and affordability, shaping decisions among consumers, employers, and insurers.
