The news: Google Pixel smartphones, from the Pixel 6 to Pixel 9, now have AI-enabled safety features such as Scam Detection to spot scam-like conversation patterns. 

  • For example, if an unknown caller requests urgent money transfers for questionable reasons, the AI sends audio, haptic, and visual alerts to warn users.
  • The tool does require allowing Google’s on-device AI to “listen” to calls, but the company says audio isn’t recorded.
