The news: Experian became the first personal finance app to integrate with Google Gemini, per a press release.
Consumers can tag "@Experian" inside a Gemini chat or link their account through Google's Personal Intelligence menu to ask about their FICO Score 8 and the factors influencing it.
Experian and Google plan to expand the integration with features like subscription cancellation, per a press release.
Why this matters: Gemini is not Experian's first LLM bet. The company launched a personal loans app inside ChatGPT in June and then embedded its credit card marketplace into ChatGPT in August so that users can compare annual fees, rewards, and APRs in the chat interface.
Experian is working with the two AI platforms, converting the most curious prospects into regular AI users.
Nearly 60% of consumers who had heard of ChatGPT tried it at least once, as did 51% for Gemini, per EMARKETER's survey data.
ChatGPT commands the larger audience, capturing 55.5% of AI chatbot site traffic in August 2026 against Gemini's 25.6%, but Gemini has more than quadrupled its share since January 2025, per Similarweb data.
And although consumers don’t blindly trust AI with their financial decision-making, they do use AI for savings strategies or to discuss credit cards and credit scores.
Implications for banks: Experian is at the forefront of using multiple AI integrations for discovery. And it has an additional advantage: it’s already a trusted provider of credit score information as a regulated credit bureau, which could convert even some skeptics and resonate with credit-score-obsessed Gen Zers.
Experian could also use this integration as a new surface for its marketplace of lending solutions. If Experian can get consumers to check their credit scores through Gemini, it can also introduce them to credit cards, loans, and other products from its partners—giving Experian a way to build a commerce and recommendation channel inside an AI assistant that doesn’t support traditional ads.
