Disney makes TikTok Shop a bigger part of its holiday strategy

The news: Disney is setting up shop on TikTok this holiday season. The company will host a “Super Brand Day” activation on TikTok Shop featuring products from the Disney Store and over 20 brand partners, including Old Navy, Crocs, and Touchland, per a company blog post.

The November 4–10 event will feature items inspired by Star Wars, Disney Princess characters, Pixar, and more across categories including home, fashion, toys, and beauty.

What it means: Disney’s decision to hold its first-ever brand day activation on TikTok Shop ahead of the holiday season points to the channel’s growing influence on shoppers’ purchase decisions, even among consumers who ultimately end up transacting elsewhere.

  • 36% of US gift buyers plan to visit TikTok for holiday shopping inspiration, although just 2% say they are most likely to make holiday purchases on the platform, per Tinuiti’s 2026 Holiday Shopping Trends report.
  • 42% of US retail leaders expect social commerce to be among their top sales channels this holiday season, outpacing the shares who say the same about their own ecommerce sites or apps and wholesale, according to a Narvar and eTail Insights survey.

At the same time, Disney’s extensive range of partnerships with both brands and creators, as well as the steady drip of events through the week-long promotion, reflects the work required to get shoppers’ attention on the platform. Disney is planning a series of live events, hosted by the company as well as creators, to highlight products and engage shoppers. The company is also leaning on its brand partners to drive awareness and sales for products featuring its IP.

Implications for retail: Brands that don’t include TikTok in their holiday strategy risk losing visibility and sales as more consumers turn to the social platform for research, inspiration, and purchases. Not every company needs a Super Brand Day, but live shopping events, TikTok Shop exclusives, and creator partnerships can offer brands a better chance of standing out amid the holiday shopping rush.
