GDPR Ads: Search ads for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) are surging as the enforcement deadline nears. Between April 2017 and March 2018, searches for GDPR increased by 172%, according to data from AdGooroo and iQuanti, cited by Ad Age. To capitalize on the interest, tech firms like IBM and Microsoft are buying search ads that use key terms related to GDPR. AdGooroo found that between November and December 2017, paid search ads around GDPR increased 2,232%.
Marcom M&A: During the first quarter of 2018, 22% of all mergers and acquisitions related to marketing communication (marcom) were backed by private equity, according to a study by Results International. That's up from 11% during the last two quarters of 2017.
