Credit card issuers are starting to charge for paper statements—and customers aren’t happy

The news: A few credit card companies have started charging fees to send paper statements, and some consumers aren’t happy about it, per Fox Business.

Synchrony’s fees, for example, range from $1.99 to $2.50 a month. Bread Financial has also begun implementing these fees.

Why are they doing this? Discouraging paper statements is part of the larger digital transformation of banks and a sign of changing consumer behavior.
