The news:Marvel’s “Captain America: Brave New World” remained at the top of the domestic box office with $28.3 million in its second weekend but slipped 68% from its opening weekend.
The film opened to $100 million domestically and earned another $92.4 million internationally, exceeding initial expectations, but it failed to maintain momentum in week two.
While its second weekend gross isn’t the biggest drop in Marvel history, the film’s success could be further hampered by its B- CinemaScore rating, the worst grade across films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
