AI medical scribes provide relief to doctors but aren’t yet delivering cost savings for health systems

The news: AI scribe tools have contributed to reduced clinician burnout while positively impacting the patient experience. But it’s too early to determine if the technology will reduce costs for healthcare organizations, according to a new report from the Peterson Health Technology Institute (PHTI).

About 60 AI scribe companies are currently operating in the healthcare market, per PHTI. Their tools automate note-taking and other clinical documentation tasks for doctors.
