Mobile and video ad spending growth figures are additional proxies for directional trends in social ad spending. Ad spending on both of these formats had grown steadily prior to the pandemic (mobile grew by 25.0% in 2019, while video was up 15.5%), and both held strong during 2020. Mobile was the fastest-growing category of ads in 2020, up 8.0%, and will grow by another 14.3% in 2021.
