    Target’s increased focus on building its ecommerce business has been paying off. The big-box retailer, which used to rank No. 11 in the US in terms of ecommerce sales, has now surpassed three competitors to become No. 8. Our latest ranking of the nation’s top retailers by online sales shows strong growth for Target’s ecommerce business, while that of QVC and HSN owner Qurate Retail Group will decline.

    The ecommerce giant has also leaned into Amazon Live, a livestreaming commerce feed that functions as its own version of QVC or HSN. Along with livestreaming feature rollouts on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok over the past year, it’s clear there’s strong impetus to drive this emerging medium forward.

    A QVC-like studio isn’t necessary. Curated doesn’t necessarily mean highly produced. Livestreams that are most likely to resonate with audiences are those that are personable, interactive, and appear authentic. Plus, thanks to the pandemic, consumers are now comfortable watching celebrities, journalists, influencers, and even CEOs broadcast live from their living rooms. Choose the host wisely.

    Many established brands have long-standing relationships with legacy home shopping players like QVC or HSN (now both part of Qurate Retail Group). For example, Estée Lauder and Dyson sell through QVC. These legacy TV networks are well-established shopping platforms built around video; they enjoy high levels of brand recognition.

That’s when the program opened up to allow members of the Amazon Influencer Program to host livestreams.
