Yahoo has returned to our rankings for the first time since 2016 because its parent company acquired Verizon Media Group and repositioned the entire operation under the Yahoo brand. The new unit should bring in just over $5 billion in digital ad revenues next year, but its growth is not expected to match most of the other players.
Viva Republica is the parent company of super app Toss, which offers a wide range of financial services to 20 million users—over a third of South Korea’s population. Toss began as a peer-to-peer payment platform in 2015 and has expanded into aggregating users’ bank accounts and credit cards on one dashboard, as well as providing budgeting tools, credit score tracker, insurance plans, and more.
Alibaba, which is affiliated with Alipay parent Ant Group, is responsible for about half of Chinese retail ecommerce. If shoppers use Alipay when they pay on Alibaba properties, they can form habits around the app when shopping day to day, effectively incorporating it into their routines.
