Even as overall ecommerce began to recover, fashion, accessories and consumer electronics didn’t perform well. During March and April together, bevh found that fashion sales reached just $1.96 billion (€1.75 billion)―an 8.8% fall compared with March and April 2019. Online shoe sales dropped 11.3%.

For apparel, an easy approach is to segment on the basis of gender. For ecommerce retailers, connecting to site activity is key: Customers who buy swimwear should be sent more swimwear, those who browse through tops should be emailed more offers featuring tops, and so on.
