Virtual reality content revenues worldwide will jump from $2.16 billion in 2021 to $8.31 billion in 2025. That trend continued unabated through the pandemic and into 2021. This year, 56.8% of all digital ad spending, or $108.53 billion, will go to display. Exactly 40.0%, or $76.52 billion, will go to search. (A smaller “other” category will claim the remaining $6.04 billion.)

Similarly, Sony’s purchase of gaming studio Bungie for a more modest $3.6 billion indicates a continuing trend in gaming IP acquisition. And let’s not forget Elon Musk’s contentious Twitter acquisition for $43 billion, which remains in limbo.
