Facebook users are spending less time on the social platform, and that is leading to a reduction in overall time spent with social networks in the US. Time spent on social networks declined by 1 minute last year, a stark difference from the cumulative 13-minute gain in 2016 and 2017.

We fielded the online survey of 1,865 US respondents ages 18 to 74 between May 28, 2020 and June 3, 2020, using a sample provided by a third party. We found that Facebook was the least trusted social media platform regarding data privacy. Nearly one-third (32%) of US Facebook users at least somewhat disagreed that they had confidence in the platform to protect their data and privacy.

Some 96.3% of internet users in Romania ages 16 to 64 owned a smartphone in H1 2020, according to GlobalWebIndex. Penetration was greatest among respondents in affluent homes and lowest among those ages 55 to 64—but these variations were minor. Ownership of desktop and laptop PCs was also high, at 86.8%.

The PayPal/Ipsos survey in 11 countries reported that in the 18-to-34 age group, 38% of smartphone users had made a purchase via social media, compared with an overall average of 30%—and just 18% of respondents ages 50 and older. Certain product categories also lend themselves to research or buying on social sites.
