NBCU’s Fandango division also acquired the Walmart-owned streaming service Vudu. This acquisition came just two months after NBCU purchased video streamer Xumo. It isn’t clear yet how all of NBCU’s streaming services will work together, but it’s obvious the company is investing heavily in digital video. Disney’s streaming service division has had a lot of executive turnover lately.

The Wall Street Journal reported that Comcast is in talks to possibly purchase Walmart-owned Vudu, another video streamer that monetizes itself with ads. Comcast isn’t the only company interested in purchasing ad-supported video streaming services. Fox Corp. purchased the free ad-driven video streamer Tubi for $440 million. Fox also sold its stake in Roku and used those proceeds to fund the deal.
