When Retail Economics polled consumers in the EU-4, Switzerland, and the UK for Alvarez & Marsal between September and October 2020, it found that more than half of respondents in Germany and Switzerland said they would be prepared to pay more for products that a retailer or brand sourced from their domestic economy, to help meet carbon emissions targets.

Without an agreement, US companies will continue to face legal jeopardy in Europe—as they will in other countries with data privacy laws, such as Australia and Switzerland—when dealing with international data flows. One intriguing bit to note is that growth in Germany in 2020 was mainly concentrated on Instagram—where user numbers rose 20.1%—and Snapchat, where they rose 16.3%. These shares were significantly lower in more developed countries like Switzerland (6.4%), the US (7.6%) and Austria (7.9%). Poor public health conditions. Absent or inadequately managed sanitation services could easily expose individuals to preventable health risks.

In May 2020, US and UK retailer Watches of Switzerland Group teamed up with watch manufacturer Grand Seiko for an Instagram AR filter that let people model a virtual wristwatch and share the picture with friends. In July 2020, PetSmart teamed up with Snapchat for an ad campaign that let users change their face into a reptile and offered a discount on reptile purchases.

Neighboring Norway is in second place, with a 60.2% user penetration rate among social network users in 2019, followed by Switzerland, with 57.6%. UK Generational Trends Mirror the US. As in the US, Instagram usage among older UK generations is growing more slowly than we had previously anticipated. That slower-than-expected growth has caused us to slightly lower our total growth estimates for the UK.
