Facebook is among the most prominent believers that neural inputs, combined with AR, will usher in “the next era of human-computer interaction.” Yet, as tech companies rush toward the promising horizon of the new age, they are simultaneously hemorrhaging trust among consumers, as myriad surveys and polls make clear.
Augmented reality(AR) will soar; virtual reality(VR) will not. We got the last half of this prediction right for sure; VR is still a non-starter for most consumers and businesses outside of some specialized applications or games. Did AR take off as we thought it would when we published our 2018 predictions report last January?
You also cover augmented and virtual reality. Any highlights on this area at CES, specifically? There was a lot of talk about virtual reality for gaming, sports and entertainment, but I didn’t see any huge leaps forward from where we are now. Meanwhile, there’s still a wait-and-see mentality regarding AR.
