More Than Half of UK Population Will Log on to Facebook This Year

Females are heavier Facebook users then males in the UK

London, UK (February 25, 2016) — Facebook will reach a key milestone this year, with more than half of the UK population using the social network on a regular basis, according to eMarketer’s latest social network usage forecast. In 2016, an estimated 50.5% of UK residents—33.2 million users—will log on to that social network at least once a month, up from 49.5% in 2015. As a result, eMarketer forecasts that 89.9% of social network users in the UK will be Facebook users this year. This number will increase to 35.4 million, or 52% of the UK population, by 2020.

Instagram Continues Double-Digit Growth

More than a third of mobile phone users will be on Instagram in 2016

New York, NY (February 22, 2016) — Instagram continues to prove its mastery of the mobile domain, according to eMarketer’s latest internet usage forecast. This year, 89.4 million Americans will log on to Instagram at least once a month, representing 34.1% of mobile phone users. And by 2017, 51.8% of social network users will use Instagram—surpassing the 50% mark for the first time.

Tumblr Struggles to Grow Its User Base

Most Digital Buyers Will Make Purchases via a Smartphone by 2017

Smartphones are driving mcommerce sales growth as tablets’ share shrinks

New York, NY (February 16, 2016) — Next year will mark a milestone for US ecommerce, as more than half of digital buyers in the country will use a smartphone to complete a purchase during 2017. According to eMarketer’s latest forecast, 95.1 million Americans ages 14 and older, or 51.2% of digital buyers, will make at least one purchase via a smartphone.
