Millennials Heart Content: For advertisers looking to find millennials on a purchase journey, putting resources in content looks to be a decent strategy. GlobalWebIndex reported that a survey from Q3 2017 found that more millennials (37%) discovered a brand via search than any other channel. But content platforms like TV advertising (34%), online ads (32%) and TV shows and films (27%) were not far behind. GlobalWebIndex noted that third-party content like celebrity endorsements and blogger reviews did better with millennial audiences than older groups.
Gaming Market Grows: The worldwide gaming market is set to hit $171.96 billion by 2025, according to a new report from Grand View Research. The company expects new types of hardware and software that support technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality will help to bolster spending.
Devices on the Uptick: Gartner reports that worldwide shipments of devices—a category that includes smartphones, tablets and PCs—reached 2.28 billion units last year. The firm expects 2.32 billion units will be shipped in 2018, a 2.1% increase from 2017. While shipments of PCs will plateau, the high-end smartphone market and the premium ultramobile device market will help to drive growth in demand for devices, according to Gartner.
