Amy Landucci, head of digital medicine at general pharmaceutical services provider Novartis, spoke with eMarketer’s Sean Creamer about the expanding role of digital in the pharmaceutical industry and the important patient issues that can be addressed using technology.
eMarketer: How was technology first used in the pharmaceutical industry?
Amy Landucci: When the pharmaceutical industry first moved into digital, it was primarily in the marketing space. Companies leveraged websites or healthcare portals to disseminate product information, educate doctors and—in some locations—educate consumers as well based on rules and regulations.
