Founding Partner, Zanadu
After years of selling customizable travel packages in China, Zanadu, a lifestyle online travel agency and media company, is now experimenting with virtual reality as a storytelling tool to promote their travel products. eMarketer’s Man-Chung Cheung spoke with Dirk Eschenbacher, founding partner of Zanadu, about the philosophy of the company and how it uses virtual reality (VR) to tell travel stories.
eMarketer: Tell us a little bit about Zanadu.
Dirk Eschenbacher: Zanadu is a startup company that launched in February 2012. At the time, the idea was to curate luxury and boutique hotels to Chinese travelers. We had an editorial department that wrote content about our products and the kind of lifestyle we were propagating.
