AWeber, an email-based global services provider, focuses on supplying tracking analytics, offering service in multiple languages and a compliance team aimed at keeping clients in the clear on regulations from region to region. eMarketer’s Sean Creamer spoke with Tom Tate, AWeber’s product marketing manager, about email marketing in Canada, which has some of the most stringent anti-spam laws in the world.
eMarketer: What is an example of an email request from a brand in Canada? Do you see that it’s similar to the US market, or does it generally have its own little niche?
Tom Tate: A lot of times the differences we see are language-based. But one of the amazing things about email marketing is that it’s pretty much global. It’s not constrained by any geographic regions. At AWeber, we tag subscribers that come in based on certain attributes. One of those can be geography. Then we can serve different content.
