Data is from the August 2016 EY "Social Media Marketing: India Trends Study 2016." More than 100 brand professionals in India who are responsible for managing digital outreach at their brand or organization were surveyed via email, telephone and online during February-March 2016. Respondents' companies were identified as social media savvy organizations that have publicly visible social activities or have created successful social media campaigns. Additionally, 1,250 smartphone users ages 16-40 in multiple cities across India were surveyed online during February-March 2016. 55% of respondents were male and 45% were female. All respondents used smartphone apps and social media.
