Data is from the January 2017 China Internet Network Information Center (CNNIC) "The 39th China Statistical Report on Internet Development." 60,000 consumers ages 6+ living in 31 provinces across China were surveyed via computer-assisted telephone interviewing (CATI) technique (evenly split between landline and mobile phone), which concluded on December 31, 2016. Survey samples are representative of the overall population. The study excludes Hong Kong and Macau. CNNIC conducts similar studies on a semiannual basis. CNNIC is the administrative agency responsible for Internet affairs under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China.
