Data is from the May 2015 IHL Group study titled "Retailers and the Ghost Economy: The Haunting of Returns" commissioned by OrderDynamics. The research was based on multiple primary research studies of different audiences and then combined with overall retail sales worldwide. A series of three different primary research studies of retailers from various regions was conducted to understand how they measure and classify out-of-stocks, overstocks and returns. In addition, a consumer experience component was added. Lastly, IHL's Retail WorldView mode was applied to help size the magnitude of the problems.
