Snapchat, Tinder Users in Argentina Skew Younger

Other social media platforms, like LinkedIn and Facebook, tend to skew toward older social media users

The vast majority of mobile dating app Tinder users in Argentina are under 35, according to a Carrier y Asociados survey in April 2016. Other social media platforms, like LinkedIn and Facebook, tend to skew toward older social media users.

Nearly 80% of Tinder’s users are under 35, according to the report, published in June 2016. Almost 50% are ages 25 to 34, the highest user share for that age range on any of the platforms studied.

LinkedIn also sees a relatively high user share of those ages 25 to 34, with almost 40% of its users in that age range. However, very few LinkedIn users were younger than 25, and overall the service skewed older than options like Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram.

Meanwhile, Snapchat is most popular with the youngest users surveyed—42% of its users are ages 16 to 24. Instagram users are also more likely to be young; about two-thirds of its user base is under 35.

In June 2016, eMarketer forecast a total of 21.7 million social network users in Argentina in 2016, up 4.2% from 2015. By 2020, that figure will hit 24.3 million.

eMarketer also estimates that 72.7% of the general population are social network users, slightly lower than Latin America’s 75.1% average.

The same Carrier y Asociados report found that 97% of internet users in Argentina had ever used Facebook, the most of any platform by far. Seventy percent had used WhatsApp groups, and 62% had used Google+.
