Retail and C2C mcommerce sales in China hit RMB3.3 trillion ($529.8 billion) in 2016, up 57.9% year over year, according to a February 2017 report from iResearch Consulting Group.
Retail and C2C mcommerce growth in China is expected to slow but will still see double-digit gains annually through 2018. iResearch Consulting Group predicts retail and mcommerce sales will hit RMB4.2 trillion ($632.2 billion) in 2017, an increase of 26.8% from 2016.
By 2018, sales will reach RMB5.0 trillion ($752.6 billion), up 17.3% year over year.
In August 2016, eMarketer forecast retail mcommerce sales in China would total nearly $499 billion in 2016, accounting for 55.5% of retail ecommerce sales and 10.2% of total retail sales.
In 2017, eMarketer estimates, retail mcommerce sales in China will reach $727.24 billion, making up 61.0% of retail ecommerce sales and 13.3% of total retail sales.
By 2020, eMarketer predicts retail mcommerce sales will top $1.64 trillion, representing nearly 70% of retail ecommerce sales and over 23% of total retail sales.
A November 2016 estimate from eMarketer put total retail sales in China at $4.89 trillion in 2016. That total will climb to $5.47 trillion in 2017.
