Facebook Adds Social Chat Features to Live

Facebook Live is getting a lot more social with the addition of social chat features. The features will let users more easily live chat with friends and ultimately weed out a lot of “visual spam.”

Alibaba Unveils Smart Vehicle Fleet

Cainiao, the logistics arm of China-based ecommerce firm Alibaba, plans to incorporate 1 million smart logistics vehicles into its delivery network to reduce costs and cut delivery times. Cainiao has already put the vehicles into use in a trial program in two cities in China, Shenzhen and Chengdu.

TransferWise Adds ‘Borderless’ Bank Accounts

UK-based peer-to-peer international money transfer app TranserWise is branching out into banking, launching what it calls a “borderless account” for small businesses and freelancers. The system allows users to create “local” bank accounts in the US, UK and eurozone countries, with funds in any of 15 currencies, so as to simplify cross-border payments between parties. Additional countries will be added “soon,” according to TransferWise. Earlier this month, the 6-year-old fintech firm said it was on track to record its first annual profit.

China’s Bike-Sharing Sector Faces Regulation

China’s Ministry of Transport released new draft regulations governing the country’s bike-sharing business, which has seen strong investment and growth recently. The draft regulations aim to solve some of the problems associated with the sudden explosion of bike-sharing, such as streets clogged with randomly parked bicycles.
