Facebook Turns to AI to Root Out Extremist Posts

Facebook said it is using artificial intelligence (AI) to help remove inappropriate content on its platform. “We want to find terrorist content immediately, before people in our community have seen it,” the company said in a blog post published Thursday.

Snap’s Tricky Spot

Snapchat is in a “tricky spot,” The Wall Street Journal reports. To boost revenues, the messaging platforms needs more curated packages and videos. But expanding that kind of content would be slow and costly.

Slack Has Suitors may be interested in making a bid for corporate chat app Slack Technologies, according to people with knowledge of the situation, Bloomberg reports. It said a deal for Slack would be the largest purchase ever for the digital commerce giant.

Spotify Surpasses 140 Million Monthly Listeners

Music streaming giant Spotify said its monthly active user base now tops 140 million. Ahead of the Cannes Lions 2017 advertising industry gathering, Spotify noted that its platform offers “rich, first-party data.”

Airbnb Promises €5M to European Project

Airbnb will invest €5 million ($5.53 million) in a newly created “Community Tourism Program” for Europe, designed to fund projects that “use innovation to help preserve and boost the best of local customs, traditions and landmarks that make European communities unique.” The fund will be available to organizations—including charities, nonprofit agencies and community social groups—in need of financial support for “innovative” local projects.

Indonesia’s Blibli Buys OTA Tiket

Indonesian ecommerce leader Blibli has acquired online travel agency Tiket, according to a Tech In Asia article. The firms made the announcement Thursday at a joint event in Jakarta. Blibli is the country’s second largest ecommerce site, trailing regional giant Lazada, April data from SimilarWeb shows.
