In Quebec, Most Adults Bank Digitally

More than half of respondents have checked their bank accounts in the past month

Adults in Quebec conduct a variety of different banking activities, according to November 2015 research. Checking bank accounts and paying bills are some of the top actions performed.

Cefrio surveyed 1,004 adults ages 18 and older in Quebec. Some 56% of respondents said they have checked their bank accounts in the past month. Half of adults in Quebec said that paying bills via a secured website of a financial institution was one of the digital banking activities they conducted in the past month.

Other digital banking activities included money transfers via a secured website, bill payments through a vendor website and payments via electronic payment systems. Few adults in Quebec conducted activities like requesting an insurance quote online or financial investing online.

Banking online has become the norm in Canada. In fact, January 2016 research from Yahoo Canada Yahoo Canada found that more than two-thirds of internet users in Canada use online banking at least once a week. Only 16% say they go into a branch.
