About three-quarters of internet users in Germany say they would consider purchasing smart-home technology, and young adults are even more avid about it.
In a February 2017 Coqon survey conducted by YouGov, 85% of respondents ages 18 to 35 said they would consider buying smart devices for the home.
What types of tech are these young adults most interested in?
Almost 50% of those polled would consider energy-saving technology, more than any other product type. Over 40% say that they would consider purchasing security technology for their home.
Further, 37% of young adults said they would consider purchasing surveillance technology, 35% would be interested in a comfort-related purchase of smart technology, and 33% would consider investing in alarm systems.
In a different study conducted last year by GfK, entertainment appliances made up 4.1 million of the 6.2 million smart-home appliances sold in Germany. GfK, however was looking at the general market, not young adults specifically.
Paid media advertising outlays worldwide will increase 7.3% in 2017 to $583.91 billion. Growth will be roughly on par with previous estimates, and spending will rise at a steady pace throughout the forecast period, driven by increased investments in digital and mobile ads.
