Digital Video Advertising Skyrockets in Indonesia

Inventory is also growing around the Southeast Asian region

Digital video advertising is up-and-coming around the world, and Indonesia is no exception. By one measure, pre-roll video ad inventory is up 1,635% this year—and other neighbors in Southeast Asia are experiencing similar growth.

Digital video ad platform TubeMogul reported that in Q2 2015, it served 90.2 million average daily pre-roll impressions to Indonesia. That was up 20.7% over the previous quarter—and more than 1,600% over the same period during the previous year.

Mobile video ad inventory, including both pre-roll and interactive in-app inventory, was up quarter over quarter but stagnant year over year.

Other markets in the region were also experiencing massive increases in pre-roll ads served on the TubeMogul platform. In the Philippines, 7.1 million pre-roll ads were served each day during Q2 2014. A year later, TubeMogul served 81.0 million pre-rolls daily, an increase of 1,040%.

In Singapore, daily pre-roll volume was up nearly eightfold on an annual basis, though it was actually down since the prior quarter. In Thailand, impressions were up 770% annually and 20.3% quarterly.
