Short and Sweet: Ultra-short video ads appear to be catching on among some advertisers. YouTube reports that the number of ad buyers purchasing its 6-second bumper ads increased by 70% between Q1 and Q2 2017. YouTube also plans to create a leaderboard that ranks the best video ads worldwide in the very short format.

Make Me a Deal: Mcommerce app users are on the hunt for deals. A survey from Clutch found that getting deals and offers was the most popular reason why US consumers used mcommerce apps, cited by 68% of respondents. Having the flexibility to purchase at any time and price and product comparison ranked second and third, respectively.

Great Britain Workday: Time spent with media keeps creeping up in Great Britain, according to IPA's TouchPoints report. The firm reports that adults in Great Britain now spend an average of 7 hours 56 minutes per day with some form of media. That's almost a full 8-hour workday's worth of media consumption.

China Ads, Automated: Display ads in China are increasingly being transacted via automated means. iResearch reports that spending on programmatic display ads in the country surged by 78.5% in 2016. The firm also found a similarly strong uptick in outlays on mobile programmatic ads, which swelled by 206.2% last year. However, the firm also concluded that China's programmatic landscape is still in its early stages.
