Apocalypse How? Reports of the retail apocalypse might be overstated, according to new research from IHL Group. The research firm surveyed 1,800 retail chains and discovered there was a total net increase of 4,080 stores in the US so far this year, including retail and restaurant locations.

Oz TV Gets Smart: A new white paper from IAB Australia's Video Council reports that connected or smart TV makes up 35% of all online video from broadcasters in Australia. However, the paper went on to note that advertisers had yet to fully take advantage of the medium.

Cybersecurity De Rigueur: Cybersecurity is the norm among large US companies, according to a survey from business-to-business ratings and review firm Clutch. It found that more than 90% of US firms with at least 500 employees had already established a cybersecurity policy to respond to real and anticipated problems.

Rather Impulsive: A recent survey of UK consumers by delivery service Whistl found that 91% of respondents made impulse purchases every month, with clothing the most common unintended buy. By Whistl's calculations, UK consumers spend an average of £47.84 ($64.57) per person on spontaneous transaction per month, worth a combined £3.14 billion ($4.24 billion).
